Titanium alloys are used in both surgical tools and implants such as bone and joint replacement, dental implants, maxillofacial treatments, cardiovascular devices etc.
Titanium dioxide is used as a whitening agent in cosmetics, food and food supplements, medications and more. Its safety is under evaluation.
Germany will ban titanium dioxide (E 171) as a food additive
This concerns, among other things, fish delicacies. The ban only applies to food, use in medicines will be reviewed in the next three years, packaging materials are not affected. Valid from 07.08.2022. Transitional regulation provided.
